The Pixies
Oct 8, Forum Karlin

One of the most influential American independent bands of the early 1990s returns to Prague. Last year the Pixies celebrated 30th years since the release of their debut album Surfer Rosa which would go on to influence scores of bands from Nirvana to Radiohead. Up End Down: Cirk La Putyka

Czech theater troupe Cirk La Putyka is celebrating 10 years of existence with this genre-breaking show in which none of the actors, dancers, and athletes chosen for the project were involved with the circus disciplines (teeter board, silks, ropes, straps, wu-shu) before the rehearsals for the show began. Signal Festival
Oct 10-Oct 13, Multiple venues

The seventh year of the Signal Festival will transform the streets of Prague with stunning light installations and 3D videomapping. Highlights this year include Turkish artist Memo Akten and installation by glassmaker Klára Horáčková. A Signal Pass includes 3D glasses Buy tickets.

3Kino International Film Festival
Oct 10-15, Multiple venues

For the sixth time, this festival of Czech, Hungarian, Slovak, and Polish cinema will be held at Světozor, Atlas, and Evald cinemas in Prague. Films by celebrated filmmakers such as Agnieszka Holland, Krzysztof Zanussi, and Václav Marhoul will be shown. Almost sixty screenings, bringing together the theme of freedom, await visitors. Exhibit Opening & Concert: The Elements
Oct 12, Vnitroblock

The Elements project presents a collection of paintings connected with songs of singer, songwriter, and painter Hana Melcrová, which is united by a theme of five elements. This exhibition will appear in Prague for the first time in the industrial space of Vnitroblock and will be accompanied by a performance by Melcrová and her band. Buy tickets.

Cider Festivals
Oct 12, Holešovice market & Smíchovská náplavka

Prague will host two cider festivals this weekend, one at the market in Holešovice and the other at the Smíchovská náplavka riverside festival space. Both will focus on this crisp autumnal beverage with the Apple Celebration and Cider Festival offering up an array of apples varieties, products, and pies while the Smíchov event pairs fifteen varieties of craft cider with all things goose, from pate to goose burgers.
