See art around the 'blok'
Czech artist Maxim Muchow, recognized for a style that combines acrylic paints with markers and spraying, along with collage elements, is set to unveil his latest exhibition at Vnitroblok starting from July 6. Titled Eternal: Maxim Muchow, the exhibit showcases the artist's diverse influences, featuring a blend of visual elements that run the gamut from Winnie the Pooh to Esquire magazine covers, all rendered in vibrant pop-art colors.
Raise a glass to American independence
Celebrate American Independence Day a few days late with a couple of patriotic food events happening now through July 9. Head over to Manifesto, where you can indulge in authentic hot dogs, burgers, and fried Twinkies; food is accompanied by DJs, beer pong, and an Elvis show. For beer enthusiasts, Počernické Pivovar is serving a special APU brewed with American hops paired with a menu of American eats.
Listen to post-punk or country music
The post-punk Czech-Canadian band Alpha Strategy will throw a big party and perform a concert on July 8 at the Underdogs’ Ballroom for the launch of their new vinyl/digital EP. On a different note, Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland will show his musicianship on July 9 at Lucerna Music Bar in a country-rock concert with Sari Schorr as the opening act.
Catch a world-class orchestra from San Francisco
The American Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra, from the San Francisco area, will perform at the Rudolfinum on July 8 a tribute to Czech music. The program includes The Fantastic Scherzo for Orchestra, Op. 25 by Josef Suk, the composition Unanswered question by the American composer Charles Ives and the prelude to the operetta Candide by his compatriot Leonard Bernstein.
Celebrate the history of the Charles Bridge
If you’re an early bird, take part in a celebration of the laying of the foundation stone of the Charles Bridge organized by the Charles Bridge Museum, which starts on July 9, 5:31 a.m., a time marking the historical event in 1357. The celebration starts with the procession of Charles IV across the Charles Bridge, surrounded by medieval knights on horseback, and continues with choirs of contemporary musicians and dancers.
Admire vintage aircraft
The fifth Hangar Open House 2023, which takes place on July 8 at Točná Airport, is a chance to see vintage aircraft on display in the hangar, an exhibition of RAF pilots, and more. The event is organized by the owners of the aircraft on display, pilots, and members of the Točná Aviation Museum community.

Join the festivities surrounding the end of the first half of the racing season at Chuchle Arena Prague on July 9 with the Summer Race Day 44th Latin Prize event. Enjoy a classic racing afternoon filled with sports performances, refreshments from various stands, restaurants, and food trucks and activities for families ranging from pony rides to bouncy castles, workshops, and an indoor children's corner.
Jarmusch vs. Cruise: Vote for your favorite American icon
U.S. director Jim Jarmusch's 2003 Coffee and Cigarettes, brings an eclectic mix of characters – played by Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Iggy Pop, and other big names – and stories to Kino Atlas on July 8. The film is part of The Legend of American Independent Film 4x at Atlas Cinema. (See Ghost Dog on July 7 and Paterson on July 9). For fans of another so-called American legend a pre-screening of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 is on at Světozor from July 8 to July 9.
