The Colours of Ostrava Music Festival Kicks Off Today

This year’s Colours of Ostrava headliners include N*E*R*D, Jessie J, London Grammar, Kygo, Joss Stone, Ziggy Marley, Paul Kalkbrenner, Gus Gus, Mura Masa, and many more.

The programme effortlessly combines the well-known with the up and coming. Take for example Jakarta Record’s Mura Masa. The Guernsey-born, electronic music producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has taken the scene by storm with this self-entitled 2017 project and visuals that excited music lovers and YouTube viewers alike receiving over 42 million views.

The 2018 Colours line-up continues the sixteen-year-long tradition of offering an eclectic selection of both contemporary and classical performers from around the world from electro beats to jazzy breaks, modern-classical to reggae bass.

It’s not just the quality programme that has made Colours of Ostrava the Czech Republic’s highest attended music festival. The lofty ironwork setting provides a truly unique backdrop for the expected 40,000 visitors to enjoy the summer days of genre-less fun. “We present some incredibly cool bands while retaining a really laid-back and friendly approach.” Said Colours spokesperson, Shelly Bonet, speaking on the festival’s ongoing popularity and longevity.

The festival is incredibly family-friendly and features a great children’s stage with child supervision on hand should you require. There’s a breastfeeding area for mothers and babies wanting to dip out of the action for some quiet down-time. The Colours Without Barriers initiative continues to provide services and stands for those who desire assistance (special grandstands and/or the option of booking a trained assistant free of charge) to mobility-impaired visitors.
