UK newspaper The Guardian recently ran a roundup of readers’ tips for the best tap rooms in Europe, and one Prague location featured among the top 10.

Vinohradský pivovar, the Prague 2 brewery & pub that makes its own beer on-site, joins select locations in London, Bruges, Barcelona and Bavaria among The Guardian’s 10 picks for the top tap rooms in Europe.

“Vinohradský is a brewery and bar producing a variety of excellent beers including several pilsners, an IPA and an amber beer from 46Kč (around £1.70) for half a litre,” writes Guardian reader John Redston.

“This is a fashionable spot with a vaulted ceiling and window through to the fermentation tanks. It serves a good selection of snacks, meals and daily specials (including vegetarian). Dishes might include pork in dark beer with red cabbage and potato dumplings, or lentils with smoked sausage and pickles. But most of all it’s about the excellent beer.”

Located in a newly-restored wing of a brewery that dates back to the 19th century, Vinohradský pivovar has been an increasingly popular destination since opening in 2014.

Beers brewed at the premises on tap include Vinohradská 11 and 12, an amber-colored Jantarová 13, and an APA 12. But you don’t have to travel to Prague 2 to sample Vinohradský pivovar’s brews: over three dozen other locations across Prague also serve up their beers.

What’s the best tap room in Europe? The Guardian rates Barcelona’s Garage Beer Co. as the winning tip, though their method of selection is unspecified.

Is Vinohradský Pivovar the best tap room in Prague? While we’re partial to craft pubs like Bad Flash or Beer Geek, it certainly rates among the Czech capital’s must-try locations – – especially for those seeking to pair some authentic Czech dishes with their brew.

More info can be found on the official Vinohradský pivovar website and Facebook page.
