Pop quiz: what’s the most-visited attraction in Lisbon?

It’s not one the Portuguese capital’s historic churches, landmarks, museums, or aquariums: it’s Time Out Market Lisbon, which opened just a few years ago and welcomed 3.6 million visitors in 2017.

Run by Time Out Group, the British media company known for their popular city guides, the spacious Lisbon marketplace features a wealth of the city’s top dining options, local products, and artisan designers all gathered together in one central location.

And now, Time Out is bringing the same concept to Prague.

Time Out Market Prague is slated to open in 2021 inside of the new Savarin social and shopping center, a 15,000 square-meter project located just behind the baroque Savarin Palace, which currently features a Kolkovna restaurant and casino.

Located just around the corner from Prague’s Wenceslas Square, the new Savarin center will connect central Prague streets Na příkopě, Panská, and Jindřišská and promises to turn a currently-inaccessible historic location into a vibrant public space.

Designed by Jakub Ciglar Architects and developed by Crestyl Group, the location will house shops, restaurants, and office spaces, with the new Time Out Market Prague one of its first big announcements.

Prague’s Time Out market will replicate is Lisbon sister in showcasing the best of the local culinary scene, with 14 food stalls, a pair of bars, and a speakeasy lounge. The market will feature indoor seating for 465, with an additional 120 seats in an outside area.

While the Prague Time Out Market will be the second in Europe after Lisbon, an additional five are slated to open across North American locations in the coming years: in New York, Miami, Boston, Chicago, and Montreal.

“Within just a few years, Time Out Market has become a recognised and visionary global brand in the hospitality sector,” Time Out Group CEO Julio Bruno stated in a press release.

“We are very proud to bring Time Out Market to the beautiful city of Prague.”

If you’d like to get a taste of what the Time Out Market might bring to Prague before 2021, however, you’re still in luck.
