In September 2019, Adidas Runbase, somewhat of a branded locker room for runners who want to convene before going the distance, added Prague to its list of worldwide locations in cities around the world including New York, Berlin, Los Angeles, and Tokyo.

Now the adidasRunners group and RunCzech are kicking off an initiative that wants to help anyone, from experienced runners to first timers, trains for the upcoming Prague Halfmarathon and Prague Marathon, taking place April 28 and May 3, respectively, for free.

Runners participate in a RunCzech race

The 11-week program gets started in the early days of the new year and will offer train regimens for a range of abilities and goals.

“I know no other race where so many runners meet with so many different goals. Somebody’s running for a quick time, someone else wants to challenge himself, another wants to lose weight, someone else wants to competes with last year’s time,” says Adéla Blahovcová, captain of adidas Runners Prague, adding that the goal is to help everyone run faster.

Trainings begin on January 14th and will be held every Tuesday at 6:30pm. Runners will run between Adidas Runbase Prague in Karlin and Holešovice’s Running Mall, where RunCzech has its facilities. Sessions are led by coach Honza Pernica who has prepared four training plans for four types of competitors according to their ambitions and current performance.

Those who wish to continue training for an additional five weeks for the Prague Marathon may do so as well. Organizers will host a series of special workshops on various topics from nutrition and regeneration to mindset in addition to running trainings. Details TBA; a program information session will take place on January 8th at 7pm at Adidas Runbase.

All trainings and workshops are free of charge. Participants simply need to sign up via The Adidas Running app. The app also helps member track their progress.

Training is free, the only requirement for using Runbase Prague is membership in the Adidas Runners Prague group and registration for training through the free Runtastic application. For more details see the Facebook page for the event (capacity is limited).
