Thousands of Czechs have started packing their bags for the winter travel season, which officially started in November. According to industry insiders, demand for exotic destinations is about 50 percent higher this year than last year.

The Maldive Islands remain one of the most popular overseas destinations for Czech-based holidaymakers looking to enjoy stunning, coral-reef-studded seaside resorts and pristine beaches, all of which can now be accessed via a new flight connection from Prague.

The Indian Ocean nation’s atolls and coral islands spread across 35,000 square miles is an idyllic getaway for work-weary travelers looking to recharge. Among the best places to experience all this stunning archipelago has to offer are a pair of resorts designed with “weightlessness” in mind.

JOALI Maldives is the first “art-immersive” hotel resort in the Maldives

Located in Raa Atoll on Muravandhoo Island, the 73-villa property JOALI Maldives property offers unconventional luxury in a private setting and a distinct focus on custom design, with accommodation options ranging from one to four-bedroom private guest villas with pools. It also gives guests the unique opportunity to view a diverse collection of artworks throughout the resort.

At this art-immersive hotel resort you will find an art studio and gallery, as well as art pieces installed around the island.

Guests are spoiled for choice when it comes to fine dining, with options ranging from Nikkei restaurant Saoke, a floating haven of delectable sakes and sushi, Mediterranean-inspired fare courtesy of Michelin star Chef Theodor Falser at Bellinis, or authentic Asian at Vandhoo. Personalized dining and cooking school await at Her Kitchen.

JOALI BEING: the first well-being island retreat of its kind

Sister property JOALI BEING, the first well-being island retreat of its kind in the Maldives, opened in November 2021. The island resort, set in the same atoll as JOALI Maldives, is celebrating one year of offering guests a transformative well-being journey.

The program centers around four key pillars: Skin, Microbiome, Mind, and Energy. Nature and sustainability are at the core of the retreat which is completely committed to nature-immersive and responsible travel.

Explore one-of-a-kind transformational spaces, such as a Sound Therapy Discovery Sound Path, a Hydrotherapy Hall, and Aktar Herbology Centre world-class fitness center staffed by expert trainers. After taking care of the body, visitors can also relax their minds and senses at the Herb Garden or Manta Ray Treehouse.

Getting there

How to fly to the Maldives from Czechia: Emirates, Qatar, or Turkish fly direct while European airlines with connections to the Maldives include Austrian airlines, and Edelweiss (a sister company of Swiss). Eurowings Discovery is the most affordable option from Frankfurt (and has flatbeds business class) or British Airways from London.

All major luxury travel agencies have access to preferred rates for both properties. Contact gabriela.markova@gmselection.com for further recommendations.
