Barclays, one of the world’s leading financial services companies, has announced plans to expand their operations in Prague this summer. They are currently hiring for approximately 50 new positions at their Prague business center, with plans to bring on a total of 200 new employees.

The company is particularly seeking specialists in the areas of software development, project management, and risk and business analysis. Apprenticeship opportunities will also be offered.

CzechInvest has been cooperating with Barclays since 2015 to help the company develop a foothold in the Czech Republic.

CzechInvest is a proud partner of Barclays‘ activities in the Czech Republic since 2015,” CzechInvest CEO Patrik Reichl stated in a press release.

“It is a pleasure for us to keep on cooperating with Barclays team on its development as well as on cultivation of the Czech technological and business environment.”

CzechInvest primarily assists the company in human resources, including helping obtain residence visas for its employees. It also offers assistance in investment projects.

The new jobs will increase the number of Barclays employees in Prague to around 1000. The company has roughly doubled the number of their employees in Prague since the start of 2020.

At the start of 2020, Barclays employed about 550 people in the Czech Republic; after their contract with software developer EPAM expired at the beginning of the year, 250 additional employees transferred directly to Barclays upon mutual agreement.

Barclays’ Prague office, located in the Pankrác Business Centre, plays a pivotal role in the company’s worldwide technological operations.

“Our operations in Prague play a key role in Barclays’ technology ecosystem,” Barclays Operations Manager Steve Penketh states.

“Thanks to the highly educated and qualified workforce combined with outstanding infrastructure, our expansion in Prague will enable us to provide more comprehensives services.”
