Currently, travelling to destinations in the USA from Prague, and vice versa, can be a lengthy process with multiple layovers.

Only a few airlines offer direct flights from Prague’s Václav Havel Airport to US destinations, including Delta, who operates flights between Prague and New York’s JFK Airport, and American Airlines, who just this year introduced a direct flight between Prague and Philadelphia.

But from next summer, a third airline will begin to offer service between Prague and a US destination.

United Airlines announced Thursday the addition of a trio of new direct flights between USA and international destinations set to debut in 2019, and one of them happens to be Prague.

From June 6 through October 4, United will be carrying passengers between Prague and their US hub at Newark Liberty. You might not be familiar with the New Jersey airport if you’re not from the states, but it’s about the same distance from downtown Manhattan as JFK.

The new United service will consist of one daily round-trip flight between Prague and Newark on a Boeing 767-300 airplane.

While three airlines now offer direct flights between Prague and US destinations, all are seasonally operated during the spring/summer months; those travelling during winter months are still looking at at least one layover.

Along with the new service to Prague, United Airlines also announced on Thursday new routes from Newark to Naples and from San Francisco to Amsterdam to take off in spring 2019.
