Waltz into timeless elegance: Historic Žofín Palace hosts the 2025 Austrian Ball

Step into a night of grandeur and celebration as the Austrian Ball returns to Prague, transforming the historic Žofín Palace on Slovanský ostrov into a dazzling tribute to Viennese tradition, elegance and cultural heritage. The 23rd edition of this stately affair will be held on Jan. 24.

The ball attracts a cross-generational crowd, who gather at the 19th-century neo-renaissance palace along the Vltava River to experience a taste of the formal elegance and waltz music of a bygone era as well as to dance to more modern beats. Gentlemen will follow the black-tie dress code, while ladies will don full-length evening dresses.

The evening kicks off with a grand opening ceremony followed by the first dance by members of the Committee of Young Ladies and Gentlemen. Other attendees will then be called to the dancefloor by the traditional announcement of the “Alles Walzer!”

Later in the evening, the midnight quadrille – a dance for four people – brings the whole ballroom to life as attendees join together in this joyful group dance led by professional instructors. No experience is necessary, just bring a sense of fun and be ready to dance! 

This year’s lineup is captivating and includes the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of Josef Hlavsa. Guests can look forward to a rich mix of performances that blend classical tradition with modern flair, offering an unforgettable experience for both newcomers and seasoned ballgoers.

The evening will offer a wide array of live music from acclaimed musicians and ensembles, allowing attendees to dance to waltzes, foxtrots and modern tunes. Additional performances throughout the palace will keep the atmosphere lively. There will be a discotheque in the Small Hall, while guest star ADOVANY will hold court in the Large Hall, ensuring something for every musical taste.

For those seeking a more exclusive experience, ticket holders with table reservations will enjoy priority access to the Grand Hall, premium seating with excellent views of the stage and the dance floor, and an exquisite catering service. Optional VIP packages can enhance the ball experience, providing a luxurious touch to this extraordinary evening.

VIP packages begin at CZK 2,590 and offer reserved seating, access to the Opening Ceremony and all other areas. Meanwhile, tickets for standard admission start at CZK 1,900 CZK and include general access to all ballrooms and dance floors. Student discounts from CZK 400 are also available.
