How to get there from Prague:

Catch an early train on Friday morning and you’ll roll into Berlin’s Hauptbahnhof a little after 11. (A current sale will bring your ticket price to just under 2000 CZK). From there you can use Berlin’s excellent public transport system to get to your destination of choice.

Train tickets: Book your ticket (at least three days in advance) to Hauptbahnof on the České dráhy website.

Where to stay:
In comparison to other equally cosmopolitan cities in Europe, Berlin still retains some of the most budget-friendly hotel prices. Areas that are consistently raved about are Prenzlauer Berg (upscale bohemian), Friedrichshain (bohemian) and Kruezberg (a little punk-rock). If you want to be directly in the area of the city’s main sites, head to Mitte. I can personally recommend the Arte Luise Hotel.

Autumn Events:Jazzfest Berlin (November 1-4), Festival of Lights (October 10-21)
