REFINED AND RUSTIC

Ukrainian chef Yurii Ovcharuk, known in Prague’s world of haute cuisine, helms the newly opened kk kava&kuchyne in Nové Město, a modern fusion of specialty café offerings and evening fine dining. Pop into the warm, exposed-brick interior for a delightful basque cheesecake and coffee in the morning, and return for a gratifying meal of rustic flavors at night, from beef brisket to char fish.

As though nestled in an Italian valley, Trattoria Da ADI sits in the beautiful streets below Vyšehrad, bringing to fruition the true concept of a ‘trattoria’—a homely atmosphere serving up loving dishes with fresh, seasonal ingredients. The menu needs only a skim-read to see that this restaurant is bursting with classics, from carpaccio for starters to spaghetti carbonara for the main to tiramisu for dessert.

BRUNCH O'CLOCK

For lovers of fine coffee and admirers of nuanced architecture, Café Revoluční blends the two in a gorgeous building on the corner of Revoluční and Soukenická streets. Get your morning brew fix and pair it with a croque monsieur, soup of the day, french bagel, or buckwheat pancakes. The breakfast menu is available until 6 p.m., so you can enjoy the aromas and thoughtful aesthetics of the cafe well into the day.

All-day breakfast with a Mediterranean twist has arrived in Vinohrady, with hummus and falafel a-plenty topping off delicious dishes from Café Safta. Borscht, shakshuka, pistachio crepes, and avocado toast round out the extensive menu, packing it with variety that will leave you satiated no matter your breakfast preferences. A selection of cakes, teas, and coffees are on hand for sweet tooths.

VIRAL BAKES

Any pastry trend you’ve seen popping up on your social media feeds, you can count on Bread Society to provide—and with expert artisanship—with Scandinavian semla, danishes, pistachio croissants, cardamom motanec, pastry ‘spheres’, and more filling the mouth-watering cabinets of this French bakery in Košíře. Though at its heart, the sourdough bread and baguettes are the true winners of this establishment, overseen by owner Lucie Cais Steblová and her pastry colleagues Oliver Lánský and Daniele Combi.

MAD HATTER TO HOP LOVER

There is no shortage of novelty bars in Prague, with themes anywhere from Rorschach tests to absinthe tastings, and now Alenka Cocktail Bar is taking patrons down the rabbit hole in a Alice in Wonderland inspired concept. Little is yet known about the curious cocktail joint, but they promise a beautifully crafted atmosphere with drinks that would make the Mad Hatter proud. The bar is just off Malostranské náměstí.

For many, the alluring approach of spring goes hand in hand with the proliferation of craft beer into street fests, gardens, and breweries. Holešovice welcomes a new brewery just in time, bringing local projects and classics to taps in an industrial courtyard between Tusarová and Dělnická. Polepšovna pivnice also brings an assortment of beer snacks and diverse gastronomy to the benches, including Japanese okonomiyaki, hoisin langos, and beef dim sum.
