At Ladronka park in Prague on 30 April there will be the largest and for many the most entertaining celebration of the ending of winter already for the sixth year. Apart from witch burning and sausage grilling the spring is associated with sports, plays, music, theatre and entertainment. Walpurgis Night is full of magic and it is time to enjoy!

Annually during the last night of April many fires will be burning and people will celebrate the arrival of spring. The largest burning of witches´ celebration in the Czech Republic is happening at Ladronka Park in Prague. „Again this year we are planning a large cultural and sport program, competitions, workshops and relax zones with refreshments. But we are also preparing a surprise for all visitors. It is the famous Hogwart School of Witchcraft and Wizardry,“ says the major of Prague 6 Metropolitan District, Marie Kousalíková. In the school that will be set up by the technician station of the children´s house (DDM), kids can try out various magical activities. In the astronomical tower along with professor Triloni they can tell fortunes from their own colour pictures; in the playground they can play quidditch with madam Hooch and professor Snape will make his own „potion”. On top they can print their photos alike the wanted refugee prisoner from Azkaban or just peek in the greenhouse of professor Sprout full of mandrakes and devil´s toils.

During the afternoon there will be many games, workshops, adrenalin exhibitions, theatre and music performance and competitions. Of course there will be the popular witches´ in-line skating race. If you want win all you have to do is to get a mask from home or in a “parlour of ugliness” at Ladronka and bring along your skates or bike. There will be the Miss Witch contest in two categories (for children and adults), where you can win a mountain bike AGANG, flight tickets around Europe or Loap backpacks. Starting from 1 April you can join our competition on www.carodejnicenaladronce.cz, where in a photo competition called Witch i-mug you can win a digital camera Olympus.

What would Walpurgis Night be without a large bonfire, witch burning, sausage grilling and guitar playing around the fires? All that you will find in Ladronka too! Witch afternoon will peak with a great concert and fire show on the main stage. Witch burning at Ladronka invites children, their parents, young and those who were born earlier – simply everyone who wants to spend the witch day in magnificent style.
