Do you sometimes need a little extra incentive to make it through to that final kilometer?

Well, Prague’s latest race might have just what you need.

On Saturday, October 31, the city’s first Zombie Night Run will take place on and around Žižkov’s Vítkov Hill. The start time for the race is 18:30.

During the 5K race, runners will be “attacked” by hordes of zombies – actors and volunteers in bloody costumes roaming the running path. “Gloomy music,” “lighting effects,” and “other surprises” are promised by the organizers.

On the official website for the Zombie Night Run, 10 rules for runners include no use of headphones (zombies don’t like it) and mandatory headlamp displays for maximum zombie-spotting (and safety).

The zombies won’t be the only ones wearing costumes. Runners can also dress up (it is, after all, Halloween) as the undead and will be evaluated in both speed (in categories of age and gender) and costume, with prizes awarded for both.

The starting fee for the race, including a commemorative gift, medal, and other goodies, is 500 CZK; 400 CZK for those in costume. Children can run alongside a parent for an additional 100 CZK.

Want to participate, but not interested in running? The Zombie Night Run team also needs volunteers to roam the area and give runners that extra incentive. More details here.
