We are a small but growing accountancy practice with a diverse portfolio of clients, primarily businesses owned by Czech and Slovak nationals operating in the UK. Our mission is to provide high-quality financial services to support our clients’ success. We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our team.

Job Summary:
As a Bookkeeper/Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial records of a variety of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK financial regulations. You will be working closely with the founder/director, who will provide training and support, and will be the main point of contact for guidance. Additionally, you will assist the founder/director with various duties related to business operations. Initial training will be provided in our office in Prague, and after a few months, when you are confident with all the duties, there will be the possibility to work remotely. This is a great opportunity to work with an international clientele and gain exposure to different industries while growing your skills under direct mentorship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records for multiple clients, including ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.

  • Assist with preparation of financial statements, management accounts, and tax returns in compliance with UK regulations.

  • Reconcile bank accounts and other financial data, ensuring accuracy.

  • Assist with VAT returns, payroll, and other regulatory filings.

  • Liaise with clients to provide financial advice and support.

  • Ensure compliance with UK tax laws and accounting standards.

  • Support the preparation of annual audits and liaise with external auditors as necessary.

  • Provide clients with financial analysis and insights to improve their business operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is desirable but not essential.

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Accountant, preferably within a practice environment (minimum 2 years).

  • Knowledge of the UK tax system or experience in a UK accountancy practice is an advantage.

  • Working experience in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Dext) is an advantage.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple clients and tasks effectively.

  • Strong communication skills, with fluency in English; knowledge of Czech or Slovak is a plus.

  • Certification (AAT, ACCA, or equivalent) is a plus but not essential.
