Drama Teacher

As of August, BASIS Prague elementary school is seeking a part-time elementary school teacher or teaching enthusiast to become a Drama Subject Expert Teacher for Levels 1-6 (children from 5-12 years of age) for our campus in Prague 4 (Podolí). Drama is part of our innovative Integration course.  Integration classes provide students an opportunity to apply their knowledge from other courses, creative problem solving, and express themselves in a variety of ways.  The Integration course includes subjects such as Visual Arts, Performance Arts (Drama), Connections and Engineering. Drama is aimed at the individual's personal and social development through dramatic art elements and practices. The subject develops students’ physical and mental abilities, acting and communication skills. It provides opportunities to explore attitudes and motivations for action of their own and fictional characters. It directs students to understand how interpersonal communication uses the basic tools and techniques of the performing arts.

Responsibilities:

• creating the content and teaching Drama content to students 5-12 years of age (one 50-minute lesson per level, per week),

• collaborating with the Lead Teacher to provide student support during Connections lessons (two 50-minute lessons per grade, per week),

• supervising children and ensuring safety protocols are met,

• accurately grading and recording student work,

• helping students learn and develop socially and emotionally by setting good examples, offering emotional support and helping students resolve conflicts.

• Directing and producing student dramatic performances in December and June

Requirements:

• legally entitled to work in the Czech Republic,

• college or University degree, preferably in Performing/Theatre Arts or a related field

• fluent English,

• commitment and enthusiasm for working with children,

• effective time management and prioritization skills,

• collaborative and creative mindset, with an affinity for problem-solving,

• strong passion for the development and education of youth.

Preferred skills:

• teaching experience with the target age group (5-12 years old)

• knowledge of the Czech language
