Are you looking for some outdoor activities? Something different or something which gives you a bit of a rush? Check out these tips for thrillseekers.

Go Airborne

For the real adventurer, there is always flyboarding, which is somewhere between a water and aerial sport, and completely in the realms of daredevilry. This relatively new activity involves propelling a person in the air with high-pressure water-powered jetpack. Flyboard.cz offers a 10 minute flight for 1,000 CZK. The company also have 30 minutes lesson for 2,400 CZK and yes lessons are in English. However, the company recommends 10 to 15 minutes for beginners.

A parachute offers you a trip in one direction, albeit a very fast one. But paragliding gives you a chance to enjoy the scenery for a little longer. Adrop.cz offers a few variations. They have motorized paragliding from 2,440 CZK or for 3,900 CZK there is thermal flying, where it’s only you, the glider, and the thermals you catch.

To take the thrill up a notch, Benešov Airstrip has aerobatic flights in a Zlín Z 142 A. For 2,420 CZK you can loop the loops, with a pilot at the controls, for 12 minutes. Or if you want to have a go at piloting, the airstrip offers that chance too for 1,820 CZK.

SWAT, snipe or survive

One live role-playing possibility is to sign up with a SWAT team, at least just for a day. The activity allows you to participate in a variety of training exercise. You can then try the skills in a fake drug raid or hostage situation. The price is 2,900 CZK, though there is a discount for bookings of two or three people and the activity is in English.

Alternatively, sign up for an army drill course. Costing 1,750 CZK for four hours, you get kitted out in army gear and get to experience boot camp.

For the military enthusiast there is a chance to train as a sniper. 2,100 CZK gets you four firearms, 40 rounds, and two hours with an instructor who will teach you how to take aim.

Hard-core survivalists can trek to the deep Bohemian forest for a three-day course in survival skills (4,900 CZK) with an instructor from the Foreign Legion. Learn how to tie ropes, trap prey, catch fish, and become one with the wild.

A role-play with a more specific scenario is offered by Cryptex. You have the choice of two 60-minute adventures. You can either find fictional lost treasure or try to deactivate a make-believe bomb. At 990 CZK per group this is one of the cheaper thrills.

Take a Joy Ride

An activity which combines off-road driving with an exploration of North Bohemia’s rugged beauty is organized by Off-road Safari. Martin “Barry” Bareš will introduce to extinct volcanoes, the revitalized landscape of Krušné Hory (Ore Mountains), and former open-cut mines. The day includes photo workshops and even a barbecue.

A ride in a hovercraft is not something you do every day. An hour in the single-seater vehicle will set you back 3640 CZK, though the company has a 500 CZK discount at the moment. It is possible for more people to take turns after discussion with the company.

Perhaps a hovercraft is not butch enough. In which case you may want to consider a ride in a Hummer. The ride takes place in a sand quarry in Klíčany, where the vehicle is put through its paces. Prices start at 2700 CZK for 30 minutes in Hummer H1.

Smaller but no less macho is a ride on a quad bike. Allegria have one-hour rides for 2300 CZK. The track is 1km with a number of bends and jumps. Apart from the rides in Prague, they have rides in Brno, Jihlava, and Příbram among others.

To appease the kid in you, why not go in a minitank. A thirty minute ride costs 1500 CZK and includes helmet and combat fatigue hire as well as instructions which can be in English.

Perhaps your fantasy ride is something more high-end. Two companies offer the chance to hire sports cars. Dream Cars has a Corvettes and Ferraris for hire from an hour (8,900 CZK for the Ferrari California) to a month (279,000 CZK) for the same car. And if you don’t find what you like, try Top Gear Car which has a Lamborghini and an Aston Martin.

Without doubt the most random thing to do is a day riding in a septic truck, i.e. the truck which empties cesspits. at the not too cheap price of 4,030 CZK, though it’s more for people with iron-cast stomachs rather than nerves of steel.
