Architectural Digest recently published a feature on Zámek Konárovice, famously owned by actor Crispin Glover, best known for his roles in Back to the Future, Charlie’s Angels, and, most recently, the STARZ television series American Gods.
Glover bought the property, a 20-acre, 17-bedroom castle formerly owned by Count Jan von Harrach, a 19th-century patron of Bedrich Smetana (Smetana wrote The Bartered Bride at Konárovice) in 2003.
The LA-based actor told the publication that his fourteen-year labor of love has included shopping for antiques at local flea markets, restoring original artwork, and resurrecting the formal garden with decorative stonework—and peacocks.

Glover is not a year-round resident at the property which is currently listed on Airbnb. The remarkable estate, located 60 km to the east of Prague in Kolin, can be rented for Kč2,601 per night.
Host Anna promises, “Private historical gardens, beautiful frescos (some which date back to the 17th century) and diverse apartment options including a communal space and Stain Glass Room.”
In what appears to be a typical Gloverian twist, however, the chateau “is not the best place for dogs, cats are allowed.” And it is listed as unsuitable for children 2-12 years.
