#1 Say goodbye to summer with major cooling and rainfall this week

Get ready for a dramatic change in weather this week as temperatures drop all the way down to the range of 10 to 15 degrees Celsius by the weekend, according to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute. Expect a sharp drop in temperatures from Sunday’s highs of over 30 degrees Celsius to a much cooler range, with potential heavy rainfall in some areas. The cold front might even bring the first snow to the Czech Republic’s highest peak, Sněžka, later in the week.

#2 Prague to host NATO Military Committee meeting

Žofín Palace in Prague will host a NATO Military Committee off-site meeting on Sept. 13-14. On Saturday, the entire Slovanský ostrov will be closed to the public for security reasons, affecting pedal boat rental and other businesses on the island. The meeting will focus on military strategy within the Alliance, with Czech President Petr Pavel in attendance. The Committee convenes twice a year at NATO HQ in Brussels and once annually in a member state to discuss military operations.

#3 Raise a glass at this year's Vinohrady Wine Festival...

Prague's annual Vinohrady Wine Festival (Vinohradské vinobraní) takes place this year from Sept. 13-14 in Mahlerovy Sady by the Žižkov Television Tower, relocating due to renovations at Jiřího z Poděbrad. Enjoy a wide range of European wines, including Moravian and Bohemian varieties, to go along with traditional foods. The festival features live music, entertainment, and a children's area. Admission is free.

#4 ...Or celebrate craft beer at Riegrovy Sady

If you'd rather have a pint, the Craft Beer Fest at Riegrovy Sady also takes place on Sept. 13-14. Discover top craft beers from 12 microbreweries across the Czech Republic, enjoy a beer-pouring school, and savor delicacies from food stalls. The festival will feature live music, including a Beatles revival and other bands, a cooking show, and various competitions. Entry is available with the purchase of a CZK 150 glass, with the fest offering a special buy-one-get-one-free deal on glasses.

#5 And enjoy a massive street festival in Prague 2

Vinohrady is the place to be this weekend, with not only wine and beer festivals but also a massive street party. The annual Zažít Americkou jinak (or La Calle Mexicana) street festival will take place along the neighborhood's Americká Street on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Enjoy a day packed with concerts, theater, workshops, dance, and international food and cocktails. Explore diverse stages featuring jazz, house, and Latin beats, alongside food stalls and local vendors. Admission is free.
