FRINGE FESTIVAL PRAHA: ALASDAIR BOUCH BAND
MALOSTRANSKÁ BESEDA, FRI 27 – SUN 29.5

Alasdair Bouch makes a triumphant return to the Fringe Festival Praha (www.praguefringe.com/2011) to unveil his new band, before trotting off on his Polish tour.  They’ll be playing songs from his forthcoming album ‘Second-Hand Lullabies’, chock-full with uplifting, lighter-waving anthems and heartbreakingly intimate paeans to love.  Melodic power-pop meets blue-eyed soul in this atmospheric acoustic concert, in the Main Hall of the beautifully-restored, legendary Prague venue, Malostranská Beseda (www.malostranska-beseda.cz).  If you think you’ve heard Alasdair in full force, think again!

The last month has seen Alasdair play an hour-long live concert on Český rozhlas, support Petr Bende in Moravia, being played on BBC radio, rocking the Czech Beer Festival, and preparing for his first tour of Poland.  In the meantime, he is putting the finishing touches to his next album, the band-led ‘Second-Hand Lullabies’, from which he will be drawing the majority of his Fringe setlist.  The long-awaited band line-up will be revealed at the Fringe – Alasdair hasn’t had a dedicated backing band for over two years – a fan-pleasing move that sees his star destined to rise.

Who is this Alasdair Bouch chap, anyway…?

UK singer-songwriter Alasdair Bouch is a musical chameleon.  From the alternative folk-blues sound of his debut album ‘First Person Singular’, via the raw soul and hook-laden power-pop of his forthcoming sophomore release ‘Second-Hand Lullabies’, he continues to wow audiences and confound expectations.  Since moving to Prague nearly five years ago, he has been entertaining the good people of the Czech Republic and beyond, with his genre-defying original material and stories from life and the road.

‘Terrific… as if the ghost of Otis Redding has stumbled into the room.’  The Guardian, UK
