Bizarre Food Festival Comes to Náměstí Republiky

Try some roasted crickets or a chili-chocolate burger at the Jakože, cože?! Food Fest

Ever tried roasted crickets? What about a chili-chocolate burger?

After success last year at their inaugural edition in Smichov, the Jakože, cože?! (You Mean, What?!) Food Festival will be coming to Náměstí Republiky from October 3-4, 2015.

At the fest, you can a variety of unusual dishes (or unusual combinations of ingredients) that you might not have tasted before.

Among the more exotic vendors, Brouk na talíři will be preparing roasted crickets prepared with a turmeric and chili bulgur. Snails Day with be serving snails with mushrooms and black beer.

From popular burger joint Bejzment, a PBP burger with chocolate-chili sauce.

Secret of Raw will prepare raw seaweed stuffed with lime-orange relish, and peppers in a carrot puree.

Druhej břeh will be cooking up soup with roasted tomatoes and peanuts, a sandwich with brie cheese, cherries, and chocolate, and a carrot salad with raisins, pistachios, and a Moroccan dressing. Soup in the City will present pumpkin cream soup with mango and mint oil. 

From Vietnamese restaurant Madame Lyn, you can try Che Thap cam, a dessert made with lotus seeds, green and red beans, jackfruit, and other ingredients. 

Pivovar Clock will have beverages on tap for the fest including Clock 12° American Pale Ale, Twist 14° American Red IPA, and 14° Exorcist Foreign Extra Stout.

The festival is organized by chocolate company Milka, which might explain the unusual use of chocolate in many of the dishes at the fest.

Entry to the festival is free of charge. At last year’s festival, special tasting menus were available for 100 CZK.
