‘Tis the season!

Just as snowfall returns to the Czech capital for the winter 2018-19 season – we saw some light snow in Prague’s city center this morning – the city’s popular Christmas markets will begin to reopen this week.

Oft-voted as some of the best Christmas markets in the world, Prague’s Christmas markets feature seasonal favorites liked mulled wine and Christmas cookies, local vendors selling holiday-themed goods, and just an all-around atmosphere of holiday spirit.

The city’s most popular Christmas markets will officially kick off from next weekend as markets at Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square debut with tree lighting ceremonies on December 1.

But Christmas markets throughout Prague will begin to unveil as soon as this week, with locations throughout the Czech capital getting into the holiday spirit.

The first of those will be a Christmas market in the heart of Prague 2’s Vinohrady at Náměstí Míru, which will debut tomorrow, November 20. Featuring smaller crowds than the tourist-trafficked markets in the city center, the Náměstí Míru Christmas Market is often named as a favorite by Prague locals.

From Friday, November 23, a pair of subsequent Christmas markets will debut at Tylovo náměstí in Vinohrady and at Prague Castle. And on Saturday, November 24, Prague 5’s Anděl will get in on the seasonal fare with a Christmas market at the pedestrian zone outside the metro entrance.

Here’s the operating dates for this year’s 2018 Christmas Markets in Prague. Markets are generally open daily from 10:00 – 22:00.

Náměstí Míru Christmas Market: November 20 – December 24
Tylovo náměstí Christmas Market: November 23 – December 24
Prague Castle Christmas Market: November 23 – January 6
Anděl Christmas Market: November 24 – December 23
Old Town Square Christmas Market: December 1 – January 6
