Prague, April 17 (CTK) – The number of the recoveries from the coronavirus was 979 and the number of confirmed cases was 6,437 this morning, according to the data released by the Czech Health Ministry today.

There are 170 COVID-19-related deaths and 979 recoveries.

There were 8,303 tests on Thursday.

The daily increase of the infected is lower than before Easter, when laboratories were conducting a similar number of tests, over 8,000, on a daily basis.

The proportion of new COVID-19 cases in the total number of the tested reached 1.59 percent, while it amounted to 1.92 percent on Wednesday, to 1.34 percent on Tuesday and to 2.14 percent on Monday.

On Thursday, two persons infected with coronavirus died in hospitals, while on Wednesday there were no victims. As a result, April 15 is the first day without a fatality since March 23.

By contrast, the biggest number, 14, was recorded on April 8.

The biggest share of the fatalities, 35 percent, was made up by people over 85. Most deaths have been registered in Prague.

Out of the Czech regions, the highest coronavirus incidence is still in Prague, over 1,500 cases. Prague has also the highest number of COVID-19 patients per head, with almost 110 cases per 100,000 population. It is followed by the Olomouc Region with 95 cases per 100,000 population. The lowest incidence is in South Bohemia, under 25 per 100,000 population.

Besides, Prague has the highest number of the coronavirus-related fatalities, 69. The Zlin Region has only one victim of the disease.

The COVID-19 disease was first recorded in the Czech Republic on March 1.

Health Minister Adam Vojtech (for ANO) says the Czech Republic has the coronavirus pandemic under control, thanks to which the government can loosen some lockdown rules in the weeks to come.

Later today, the government will deal with the specific form of the first stage of the relaxation.
