Yesterday marked the end of blanket testing on around 3,400 employees of the OKD mines in Karviná; about 17% of these employees have tested positive for COVID-19, though that number could rise as not all samples have been processed yet.
In Prague and much of the rest of the Czech Republic, the number of new COVID-19 cases remains stable. There have been just 4.38 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents in Prague over the past seven days, and only 3 new cases yesterday.
In Karviná, that rate is now over 270 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents.
There have now been a total of 11,960 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Czech Republic since the beginning of the epidemic in mid-March.
The country has reported a total of 7,776 recoveries and 349 COVID-19-related deaths in that span. Currently, there are 3,835 known active COVID-19 cases in the Czech Republic.
Also from today, restaurants and public in most regions of the country (except for Karviná and surrounding areas) will be able to open from after 23:00.
From today, the Czech Republic has added eight non-EU countries to its list of safe travel destinations; restriction-free travel is now possible between the Czech Republic and Serbia and Montenegro, and Czech residents may travel without restriction from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand. Once these countries introduce a reciprocal measure, all travel between these countries will be possible without restriction.
