Prague, June 11 (CTK) – Ice hockey right wing David Pastrňák, 24, who plays the NHL with Boston Bruins, won the Golden Stick award for the best Czech hockey player of the past season for the fourth time in a row, followed by Chicago’s left wing Dominik Kubalík and Philadelphia’s right wing Jakub Voráček.

Voráček won the poll in 2015 and he has always been among the poll’s best three players for four years.

During the 2019-2020 NHL season, which had to end prematurely due to the coronavirus pandemic, Pastrňák won the Maurice Richard Trophy for the leading goal scorer.

In the history of the poll, right wing Jaromír Jágr ,who won it 12 times has been the most successful player, followed by goaltender Dominik Hašek, with five victories.

Pastrňák has tied Jágr’s record of winning the honor over four straight seasons.

Those voting in the poll are representatives of the Czech Ice Hockey Association, coaches of the national team and of the Czech Elite League clubs and sport journalists.

The final results this year are actually the results of the first round of the vote, because the second and third rounds, originally planned after the world championships and at the end of the NHL season, were cancelled.

Only two players from the TOP 10 do not play the NHL: Milan Gulas in the 5th position plays the Czech Elite League and Dmitrij Jaskin in the 9th position, who is of Russian origin, plays the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) for Dynamo Moscow.
