PRAGUE — On October 11, 2009, Expats.cz and the Prague British School present the first Expat Market event in Prague, bringing together buyers and sellers from all over the international community.

Moving to a new home and want to lighten your load? Got skeletons in your closet collecting dust? Too many plaid sweater-vests from birthdays past? Then come to the Expat Market and sell all the stuff you’re tired of looking at… so you can buy more stuff!

On the grounds of the Prague British School at K Lesu, Prague 4, sellers can display their unwanted wares from behind their parked cars, while potential buyers roam from car to car, checking things out and asking questions. Don’t have a car? No problem – you can rent and register a stall for only 200 Kc a day (or 300 Kc on the day of the event). Market hours are from 10am to 2pm for buyers, while sellers should arrive between 9am and 10am.

Bargain-hunt, haggle, find something you want, or something you never knew you needed. Or just come to browse, socialize, and get a little fresh air. It’s a flea market, garage sale, and tail-gate party, all rolled into one. Expect to see furniture, toys, electronics, books, DVDs, clothing, and more – and all prices that will make you glad you came.

As if finding a vintage, gas-powered cat-polisher isn’t reason enough to visit, all entrance and participation fees will be donated to two main charities: Domov Sue Ryder and the Fond Ohrožené deti (Children in Need Fund). Domov Sue Ryder, or the Sue Ryder Home, is a non-profit organization that provides care for the elderly, who are dependent on the assistance of others due to illness or old age. The Fond Ohrožené deti, or FOD, is an association working all over the Czech Republic to encourage foster families and help neglected, abused, and orphan children. While the FOD receives government support, most of its proceeds are raised from activities like the Expat Market.

More information is available at www.expatmarket.cz, or you can call the event organizer, Eva Howlings, on +420 776 355 228 if you’re interested in participating.
