An interactive new art space is due to open in the Galerie Rudolfinum later today. Located on the gallery’s ground floor next to the café, it represents, according to its founders, “an accessible approach to presenting the past and present of art.”
Galerie Rudolfinum spokesperson Martina Freitagová describes the educational center as “a unique creative space and 3D textbook of the visual arts where visitors encounter the questions people most frequently ask at museums and galleries, to which they receive comprehensible answers.”
The space, designed by Czech architect Zbyněk Baladrán, also features a large-scale mural by celebrated Czech comic strip artist David Kalika depicting the history of the gallery, considered among the finest in Central Europe since its opening in 1994 for showing a diverse line-up of modern artists from Andy Warhol to Cindy Sherman.
Artpark plans to host an ongoing series of workshops and activities for the general public (including family-friendly activities) based on themes related to current exhibits as well as talks with invited artists.
