Dobrá Trafika on Korunní is a Prague institution, a café and newsagent’s selling books, periodicals, tobacco, and tea with its Vinohrady location offering live entertainment in a cozy loft space and brick-wall garden seating.
The café recently opened a Karlín outpost on Sokolovská street, where, similar to its Vinohrady and original Újezd locations, the coffee, cake, and unfiltered Primator beer are paired with reading materials, including a wide selection of books from local publisher Baobab.
Aside from the sophisticated titles for littles, the café is also home to a vintage-look ice cream cart from which it dishes up Czech-made Angelato ice cream and sorbet daily.
Salty caramel, ginger, pistachio, vanilla, chocolate, and mango sorbet are 30 CZK a scoop (for a taste of their trendy black ice cream or a sprinkle cone you will have to visit an original Angelato location, sorry!).
On a recent visit, tables were being painted with chess boards in a nod to the Újezd location where patrons are known to enjoy a game.
Karlín is becoming a luscious neighborhood for ice cream lovers, with ice cream sandwiches by Parlor nearby and the recently opened Antonínovo pekařství serving a generous vanilla or chocolate točená zmrzlina for 29 CZK.
We already love the neighborhood vibe; if you’re in the area with kids the adjacent playground lets you make a day of it.
