Yesterday tickets went on sale for a June 27 Pearl Jam concert at 02 Arena. Excited fans spread the news across social media with Czech and Slovak media outlets picking up on the story. Just one problem: the seminal ’90s American grunge rockers have no plans to play in Prague.
Today Novinky.cz is reporting that onlineticketshop.cz, the Dutch server selling tickets to the concert, is a fraud. No local agency has made an official announcement of a tour and the bands’ official website has no confirmed Prague dates in the works.
That didn’t stop the e-shop from continuing, as of this morning, to sell seats to the performance for 2,300-4,000 CZK.
Live Nation, the Prague promotion agency that has brought the band to the Czech Republic in the past, is calling the invented concert an unfortunate scam that has misled a number of fans. The onlineticketshop.cz server is not responding to media inquiries regarding ticket sales for Pearl Jam.
As of this posting, the server has disabled tickets sales to the concert, though the concert listing is still visible on the site and the Facebook event still exists.
