Now that the 130-year-old railway bridge in front of Výstaviště has been removed, people are probably wondering what will replace it. A new low-profile bridge will fill the gap, and a new train station will emerge at the edge of Stromovka.
The Praha-Výstaviště station and the nearby Praha-Bubny station are part of the larger project to modernize the railway between Prague and Kladno, with a spur line to Václav Havel Airport Prague. While the whole project won’t be finished until 2030, the Praha-Výstaviště to Praha-Bubny section has a valid building permit and should be finished by 2025.
The Railway Administration (SŽ) has published some visualizations of what the new stations will look like. When finished, they should make it easier for commuters to get to the Holešovice neighborhood.
THE PLANNED PRAHA-Výstaviště STATION
The new bridge over Dukelských hrdinů was designed so it would not interfere with the view of the Industrial Palace and other historical buildings in Výstaviště.
The new station will drop people off directly at the entrance to Stromovka park and is also near several cultural venues and a shopping center.
A row of shops and some benches are planned to turn the space under the tracks into a recreation and relaxation zone.
the planned Praha-Bubny station
The planned Praha-Bubny station will connect to the Vltavska metro stop and be a gateway to a developing neighborhood.
