Prague drops out of TripAdvisor’s Top 10 world destinations

After ranking #7 in 2017 and 2018, the Czech capital has slipped to #11 in TripAdvisor's 2019 Travelers' Choice Awards

Is Prague starting to lose its appeal among world travelers?

Despite a record number of tourists coming to the Czech Republic year after year, the city has fallen out of TripAdvisor’s list of the world’s top 10 destinations, according to new Traveler’s Choice Awards announced earlier this week.

Among the world’s top destinations, Prague rated #6 in the 2016 Travelers’ Choice Awards on TripAdvisor, and #7 in both 2017 and 2018.

But this year, the Czech capital has slipped all the way to #11, dropping out of the top 10 global destinations in the Travellers’ Choice Awards for the first time since the awards were introduced.

For the fourth year running, London topped TripAdvisor’s list the list of the world’s top destinations, followed by Paris, Rome, Crete, and Bali in the top 5.

Among the world’s top 10 destinations, Phuket, Barcelona, Istanbul, Marrakech, and Dubai also topped Prague in this year’s Travelers’ Choice rankings.

Of course, ranking as the 11th-most popular city among travelers across the entire world is no slight. Prague still ranks ahead of some of the world’s most popular (and populous) destinations, like New York, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.

But could the 2019 TripAdvisor rankings be the start of a trend for the Czech capital?
