Museum Night, Night of Churches, Night of Theatres – evenings devoted to nighttime tours or behind-the-scenes access of Prague’s most treasured venues have increased in popularity in the past few years. This month another “night” joins their ranks.

On January 27, seventy hotels will offer an overnight stay for the symbolic price of 777 CZK as part of Prague’s first Night of Hotels. The event is being organized by the Czech Association of Hotels and Restaurants in partnership with Prague City Tourism and Prague Castle.

In addition, many of the hotels will be offering evening programs and tours, while Prague Castle and Old Town walks will be half off from January 27-28.

The list of participating hotels includes a number of the city’s most luxurious. Stay at Buddha-Bar, Grand Hotel Bohemia, Hotel Intercontinental, Hotel Hliton, or opt for a stylish boutique such as 987 Prague. Aquapalace Hotel is also on the list.

Organizers say that the event was created as a thank you to Prague residents for tolerating certain aspects of living in one of the world’s most-visited cities.

“Every tourist brings us all a higher standard of living, thanks to tourists we have restored historic buildings, beautiful parks and high-quality transport infrastructure. Sometimes, however, all we perceive as its negative effects, the crowds, noise, garbage.”

The event also invites those who wouldn’t normally take a city break in Prague to view the Czech capital through the eyes of a visitor.

The response to hotel night has already been enthusiastic and rooms are quickly filling up; breakfast and VAT are included in the price of the overnight stay.
