Tourism in Prague is on the rise, and the number of passengers serviced on direct flights from US destinations has seen a big uptick over the past two years.

Now, the city has launched a new advertising campaign on the streets of New York City to appeal to an increasingly-growing US tourist demographic.

“No spoilers. See it Live,” reads the campaign’s advertising, a concept from the creative agency Loosers Prague.

The posters features photographs of famous Prague landmarks – – but blurred out, to encourage a personal visit to the Czech capital to really get the Prague experience.

“Seeing the Prague skyline for the first time, watching the sunset disappear behind the silhouette of the Prague Castle, walking across the 600-year-old Charles Bridge… these are experiences you will remember for the rest of your life,” reads the description on the campaign’s official website.

“To avoid ruining that first magical moment, we won‘t show you everything just yet – No spoilers!”

The advertising will be featured in 1,000 locations across New York’s underground transit network, including 80 spaces at 53rd Street and 5th Avenue, one of midtown Manhattan’s busiest stations.

“The number of serviced passengers on direct flights to North America has grown by almost 67 per cent this year,” Prague Airport’s board of directors chair Václav Řehoř said in a press release.

“Next year, we are expecting further increases thanks to a new line to Newark. This confirms the high potential of the US for increasing the number connections to Prague.”

From May through October, three airlines will offer direct flights to US destinations in 2019.

Those include American Airlines, who began a route from Philadelphia last year; Delta, who fly from New York’s JFK; and United, who will launch a new route from nearby Newark’s Liberty International this year.

The new campaign is expected to attract even more visitors to Prague – – and potentially result in more direct routes to the Czech capital, perhaps even year-round.

“We are expecting that the New York campaign will raise American interest in Prague and its surrounding areas,” Řehoř added.

“This could also motivate airlines to extend seasonal lines to year-round ones, which is our priority.”

Prague’s new See it Live campaign, which is now being promoted on the streets of New York, can also be seen online via the official website of the City of Prague.
