RUNWAY TO WILDLIFE

Witness the inspired work of emerging and established Czech and Slovak designers at Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week for the SS25 autumn edition this weekend, taking place on the historic premises of the Clam-Gallas Palace. Shows will run across two floors and in the courtyard of the elaborate Baroque palace in Prague Old Town from Aug. 28 to Sep. 4, with tickets still available through ticket retailer GoOut.

Following this year’s final "Icy Zoo", in which ten tons of ice cubes cooled animals and visitors in the summer heat, the zoo is transitioning into autumn with an exciting program. On Friday, Aug. 30, all children under the age of 15 will have entry to the zoo for a symbolic CZK 1 – just in time to enjoy the zoo before school is back! Iced refreshments and activities will be held for the family. On Sunday, Sep. 1, the zoo will celebrate the International Day of Primates, with feedings of gorillas, lemurs, and more.

SALSA AND SMOKE

Manifesto Market Anděl will be exploding with the smells and flavors of Latin American and Caribbean cuisine from Aug. 29-31. At the Latin and Caribbean Festival, try specialties from Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Mexico and Brazil, and visit the pop-up flower shop Bukèt while enjoying dance performances and even lessons on the final day.

The epic three-day All American Fest is back to mark the end of summer, bringing a conglomeration of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, truck rides, American street food, burger-eating competitions, and many more quintessential Americanisms. Head to the lower part of Prague's Výstaviště from Aug. 30 to Sep. 1 for a smoke and fire food fest, adrenaline-pumping freestyle motocross shows, and gluttonous servings of wings, steaks, ribs, mac’n’cheese, and more.

MARIO MANIA

A two-day program of all things Mario and Luigi will be taking place in the Letňany shopping center on Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., as kids around the city say goodbye to the holidays. Not to worry, as this dynamic duo will bring dance workshops, a super quiz, photo corner, and badge-making workshops to the shopping center. A Megaplay Zone will be prepared with board games, along with a Nintendo game zone.

historical havel

This weekend is the final opportunity to view an exhibition celebrating 20 years of the library's existence. The exhibit offers a collage of Václav Havel's life, featuring lesser-known images from family archives and excerpts from his works, providing a compelling portrait of the playwright, dissident, and president. The display takes place at Písecká brána close to Prague Castle and entry is free.

WINE AND WHIMSY

Riegrovy sady will be sparkling with a variety of wines on Aug. 30-31, as winemakers will fill the park with their best whites, rosés, reds, and more. Pair your wine with some cheeses under the chestnut trees for VÍNOhradský KOŠT, and get the chance to vote in a competition for the best wine. Musician Alexander Vrábel will perform on Saturday, after a fashion show by Daniel Folklor.

If you have a hankering for wine specifically from the famous Italian region of Veneto, and long to frolic in the beautiful St. Wenceslas vineyard, you can look forward to the Prosecco Fest 2024 at Villa Richter. Enjoy a rich selection of wines accompanied by DJs and a jazz bang, plus Italian specialties, on Aug. 31.

VINTAGE VESSELS

Prepare to fall in love with beautifully designed trinkets and homewares at the Cermanic Market on Kampa Island on Aug. 31, where the best domestic ceramicists and potters will present their work. You can also expect performances by students of the Department of Nonverbal Theater, pantomimes, swinging marionettes, acrobats, and more. Purchasing a mug at the Sananim stand, who are the organizers of the event, will send proceeds to those receiving addiction treatment.

OPERA IN THE PARK

For free entry, the district of Prague 6 invites the public to a performance of Bedřich Smetana's opera The Secret. Soloists, a choir and orchestra of the National Theater in Prague will bring the opera to life in an original natural theater production in Divoká Šárka.

TRIBUTE TO A LEGEND

It's your final chance to view the exhibition at Písecká brána which takes you through the life of one of Czechia's most beloved public figures. 'Václav Havel known unknown' was prepared on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Václav Havel Library and compiles images and quotations from the late playwright, dissident, and president's works. The exhibition runs until Sep. 1 with free entry.
