The Radlická Cultural Sports Center (Radlická kulturní sportovna) in Smíchov will open its doors again today, Thursday, June 20, after a two-and-a-half-year hiatus. The re-opening party kicks off at 21:00 with a full line-up of DJs. Admission is free.

The multifunction space was established in 2013 from a dilapidated building of a former railway warehouse near the Na Knížecí bus stop. (Read more about Radlická’s history and early open days in our article here).

“Although we have always counted on the fact that we have the building for only two years from the beginning, we used every opportunity to continue here,” says Lukáš Žďárský, one of a group of the center’s co-founders which includes co-founders Jakub Zajíc, and Kateřina Šandová.

At the time of its opening, Radlická Cultural Sports Center was one of the first of its kind in the Czech capital, offering a unique combination of entertainment and athletics with a full bar and live music in a venue also equipped for CrossFit, yoga, weekend markets, and workshops.

The building covers an area of more than 600 m2.

Zajíc and Žďárský are the driving forces behind the transformation of a number of Prague’s forgotten spaces into top venues. Their projects include Kavárna co hledá jméno, a co-working space, cafe, and cultural hub (also located in Smíchov) and Vnitroblock in Holešovice, a former industrial building now home to cafes and boutiques.

Smíchov is poised to claim up-and-coming neighborhood status this summer as it will also see the opening of a new Manifesto Market location in July.
