New fests devoted to BBQ and ice cream make this Prague’s yummiest summer yet

A festival dedicated to finger foods is perfect for sampling lots of goodies on a summer’s day. Fair Fair, which takes place in Stromovka Park, is Prague’s first, and highlights the wares of local bistros, cafes and restaurants from Prague 7. Also includes workshops and live music. Starts at 11 a.m. Free admission.

For fans of Svijany beer, this is the day to come together at the brewery’s grounds for a day of music, food and, of course, lots of beer. More than 160 taps will keep the brews flowing, with a lineup of bands for entertainment and novelties such as beer ice cream on offer. Admission is 200 CZK; starts at 1 p.m.

Summertime means blueberries, and this blueberry festival in South Bohemia includes many local vendors and freshly baked goods, as well as competitions for the best blueberry dumplings, favorite recipes and pretty much everything one can think of to do with blueberries. Starts at 10 a.m. both days. Two-day admission 100 CZK.

The eighth annual French market is a must for any Francophiles, transforming the shady, open square just below Charles Bridge into an array of stands for local French bistros and cafes, wine and cider imports, and many more. Live music makes this an ideal way to graze and sip your way through an afternoon. Admission free. Open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.

Every second Sunday throughout the summer Cross Club and the organizers of the highly successful annual Street Food Festival will host mini street food fests.

In cooperation with Local Food Market, this fest features an international array of food from restaurants and food vendors located in the Prague 3 district. Admission free. Starts at 11 a.m.

Starting at 11 a.m., this event, led by El Arriero, features entertainment by five Latino bands and 10 food stations with burgers, grilled meats and other specialties, as well as desserts and cocktails as well as beer and wine. Kids and pets welcome. Admission free.

A large selection of food and drink vendors can always be counted on to liven up the already festive proceedings at Dyzajn Market’s summer edition. And if you’re on the market for a pretty set of summer dishes, this is the place.

Melnicky kost 2015 – August 8-9
Several locations, Melnik

The city of Melnik, Central Bohemia, hosts a day with the region’s winemakers, who will be offering their wines to visitors for tasting for the ninth year in a row. The family-friendly event, which starts at 2 p.m., features a cultural program and a traditional crafts market, as well as culinary specialties. Runs until 2 a.m. Admission free.

This is your chance to either set up a table and showcase your great culinary talent or just visit other people’s transported kitchens. Prague’s version of the global event (which takes place twice a year) has updates and info on its Facebook page.

Dedicated to tea in all its glorious forms and the art of brewing and presentation from around around the world, the OpenAir Tea Festival returns for its seventh year with tasting areas, gastronomic specialties featuring teas, music, ceramic art, theater and dance performances, creative workshops. Admission free.

A popular free event presented by F.O.O.D. magazine. Spend a relaxing Saturday in the park with a variety of food stands and cultural offerings. Admission free.

In its second year, this street food fest has food trucks and culinary stands promising the same success as last year. This year’s theme is street foods from around the world, such as Indian style, raw food, Moroccan cuisine, grilled fresh fish, Mexican tortas, pastrami, American BBQ, burgers, Spanish tapas, Ethiopian injera, Dutch herrings, Georgian shashlik, exotic fruits and fried insects. Admission 30 CZK.

A perfect cooldown for the summer, Prague Ice Cream Festival is a celebration of ice cream in all its forms, with around 20 local vendors and more brands for tasting. Admission is 110 CZK if purchased in advance. Runs 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Kansas City Barbecue society will host a barbecue competition and bluegrass festival along the banks of the Vltava with local and international bbq bosses competing for glory in the areas of chicken, ribs, brisket, and pork.
