Autumn has officially arrived in the Czech lands and with it a whole host of seasonal festivals, films, food, and fun. Here’s the pick of the harvest of this week’s Prague events:

Swiss Food Festival
Sept 30-Oct 5, multiple venues

The main festivities will take place from October 5 at Náplavka and will include the folk music band Kapelle Schwyzergruess, tourist information stands by Switzerland Tourism, cheese, chocolate, and Fassbind discounted prices for the panoramic Glacier Express and Bernina Express trains will be on sale. Lunchmeat Festival 2019
Sept 30-Oct 6, multiple venues

Berlin-based producer Dasha Rush will perform and an immersive 360° live version of her Aurora Cerebralis in the dome of Prague’s Planetárium for the festival opening. With its 8K digital projection and 23.5 meters in diameter, the building is one of the biggest planetariums in the world. Buy tickets.

The Lunchmeat Festival kicks off September 30, 2019

Prague through the Lens of Jovan Dezort
Oct 1-April 2020, City of Prague Museum

The solo exhibition of the Czechoslovak photographer Jovan Dezort, in honor of his 85th birthday. The selection of works on display will primarily focus on Prague life. Read more. Read more.

Architecture Days
Oct 1-7, multiple venues and cities

Free entry to otherwise closed historic spaces with architectural appeal as well as guided walks and tours, films, family workshops, and performances taking place for the duration of the festival. Admission to a number of events is free and several are English friendly. Buy tickets.

1981 Secondhand Pop-Up Market
Oct 2-Oct 3, Oldřichova 31

The eleventh of this two-day second-hand sales event for the popular online boutique featuring vintage finds from decades past. A must for thrift store enthusiasts seeking interesting pieces — everything from dad sweaters to pussy-bow blouses — for their winter wardrobe. Read more.

Festival of Israeli Film
Oct 2-6, Kino Pilotů

The third annual Israeli Film Festival will bring 14 films and 5 blocks of short student films for a total of 40 projections. A diverse accompanying program is scheduled as well. Read more.

New Order
Oct 3, Palac Lucerna

British band New Order will visit Prague for the first time this autumn. The band, one of the most influential in the 1980s and founded by members of the defunct Joy Division, brings its post-punk, electronic, and dance sound to the great hall of Prague’s Lucerna to kick off its European tour. 4+4 Days in Motion
Oct 4-10, Multiple venues

The international festival of contemporary art 4+4 Days in Motion engages artists in places where nobody has ever seen them before. The theatre part of the festival will open on Saturday, October 5 at 8 pm at the Archa Theatre in Prague with The Clearing by the American performer and curator Jeremy Wade. Read more.

Food Truck Show
Oct 5, Smíchovská Náplavka

Street food vendors from the Czech Republic, Europe, further-flung locales will serve up burgers, hot dogs to pizzas and pastrami, Vietnamese baguettes, Thai cuisine, and mac and cheese. Finish with waffles, donuts, cakes, and coffee!
