The Greatest Show, a new live concert coming to Prague’s Hybernia Theatre, will premiere on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. The show will feature songs from the 2017 Hugh Jackman film “The Greatest Showman”, performed by some of the top names working in the Czech music industry today.

The theatrical concert celebrates the life of American showman, politician, and businessman Phineas Taylor Barnum, who shot to fame as the founder of the Barnum & Bailey Circus, largely considered to be the inventor of show business itself.

The show’s creative producer and director Peter Zuska obtained permission to use original songs directly from their Oscar-winning authors, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul; the live production of the film’s songs is unique to the Czech Republic and the world.

The songs’ music and lyrics, say organizers, are a celebration of humanity, and the live concert aims to connect with the audience via show-stopping productions of “A Million Dreams”, “This Is Me” and the film’s biggest number, “The Greatest Show”.

The concert uses a variety of new features and effects, not yet seen in a Czech production to date.

The songs are performed in the original English by a cast of more than 40 performers.

Co-producer of The Greatest Show is Marek Jakeš, the script was written by Zuska together with Hanka Hošková, and the choreography is by Ivana Hannichová.

P.T. Barnum was known for saying: “The noblest art is that of making others happy.” Organizers aim to bring this same sentiment to The Greatest Show.

Two performances will take place on May 1; an additional performance has been added for May 22.
