For those who are watching their waistlines, a new vegetarian bistro has opened in the heart of Wenceslas Square. Look for it on Štěpánská street next to La Femme Mimi boutique.
The Rebel brewery out of Havlíčkův Brod has opened a gastropub in a historic building on Hybernská mentioned in the The Good Soldier Švejk; the deceptively named Rebel Wings does not, however, appear to serve wings. Also worth a mention in casual dining is Richard’s Kitchen, serving flavorful small plates, burgers, Doubleshot coffee, and Letiny beer.
Is SaSaZu moving into central Prague? Rumor has it that the location-challenged Asian-fusion favorite has a new project in the works (the restaurant is also in the midst of opening a Bratislava location).
Another highly anticpated opening, the as yet unamed ode to French gastronomy funded by Czech finance minister Andrej Babiš (the politician owns the Michelin-starred restaruant La Paloma near Cannes) would bring Continetal cuisine to suburban Pruhonice.
Chef Emanuele Ridi has opened MANÚ Risto & Lounge on Dětský ostrov just in time for spring special occasion dining. Modern Italian with a Czech twist if menu items like risotto with smoked sausage and black cabbage are any indication.

Sophistication thy name is champagne and oysters. Opening this week, Brut.Koncept promises French, Italian, and Spanish wines plus fresh oysters. Sources are saying the Letná bar and shop will give Zdenek’s in Old Town a run for its money.
On the casual end of the spectrum Salt’n’Pepa food truck has opened its Kitchen & Shop in Vinohrady; we’re told they do a mean breakfast burger.

This spring’s cafe openings include The Spot a meet space with quality coffee, brunch, retro decor, and free Czech lessons. Kavárna co hledá jméno (Cafe looking for a name) brings rustic-cool to the already-pretty-gritty Smichov, and One Sip Coffee, a long-time favorite pop-up among coffee lovers, will open its Haštalská cafe any day.
Move over gin and tonic, a new Zizkov bar devoted to chartreuse is putting the naturally green French liqueur on the local map as seasonal drink du jour. Meanwhile in Vinohrady, Soma Craft Beer & Cocktails has its soft opening this weekend.
