The annual Sexist Piggie Awards (i.e. Why does this ad for skis feature a woman in a string bikini?) are back. The competition, now in its seventh year, opened to public submissions last week.

The awards (Sexistické prasátečko in Czech) are presented by the non-profit group Nesehnutí, an umbrella organization for a number of smaller NGOs devoted to social and ecological change which includes the women’s rights group Ženská práva.

Each year a shortlist of conteders is compiled from the worst examples of ‘Stereotypes and Sexist Language’ and ‘Objectifcation’  sent in by the public. An overall ‘winner’ is decided by online voting; a jury-selected winner is also recognized.

Last year 11,000 people voted, with the political party ČSSD winning top honors and TOP09 getting a nod (rather a finger wagging) from the jury.

This year’s submissions close on October 31st and winners will be announced on November 6th. Here are some of the best of the worst so far.
