Thinking of giving a little this Christmas season?

Kevin, age 13, wants a CD player with headphones.

Sabina, age 10, has asked for a bicycle and helmet.

Veronika, age 19, wishes for a pair of Guess shoes.

And Daniel, age 16, would really like to get a dishwasher for his mother of four.

These are all (currently) unfilled requests from the website of Milý Ježíšku, a version of Dear Santa (or rather, Dear Baby Jesus, the Czech gift-giver) that gives needy children the platform for a Christmas wish – and YOU the opportunity to grant it.

Over the past six years, donors via Milý Ježíšku have granted the wishes of more than 8,000 underprivileged children from local children’s homes, a total of 70 of which across the Czech Republic and Slovakia participate in the project.

The project is the initiative of Martin Kučera and Vojtěch Paukner, who were children themselves when they launched Milý Ježíšku in 2012.

“Six years ago there was a big change in our view of society,” they write on the Milý Ježíšku website.

“We were fifteen and sixteen years old when we launched the Milý Ježíšku project. It’s a project that aims not only to help the needy, but also to show new and modern ways of donation.”

“It shows how we can deal with the power of social networks and web applications. We have created this platform and now it’s up to you, people with your heart in the right place.”

That first year, all Christmas wishes were fulfilled in three days. With the expanding scope of the project, there are still unfulfilled wishes for the 2018 holiday season.

If you’d like to grant a needy child’s Christmas wish this year, you can browse the Milý Ježíšku website and choose the request you’d like to fulfill.

In the interest of full transparency, there are no intermediaries – the address for each recipient is provided by Milý Ježíšku, and gift-givers receive a direct confirmation email when the gift is received.
