Starting Monday, Jan. 6, the Českomoravská metro station on Line B in Prague will close for about a year for reconstruction. On the same day, Pankrác station on Line C will also shut down for a similar period due to renovation and construction work for transfers to the future Line D.

Passengers are advised to use Vysočanská station as an alternative for Českomoravská. For Pankrác, the Pražského povstání station and tram Line 19 are recommended. Both stations are expected to reopen by the end of next year.

The Českomoravská renovation will cost CZK 926 million. The project includes replacing escalators, adding elevators, and updating utility systems. The station, located near the O2 Arena, will also receive a visual upgrade. Its ceramic tiles will be replaced with glass panels featuring bubble designs by designer Maxim Velčovský.

The Pankrác station renovation is tied to the construction of Metro Line D, which began in 2022 with the section between Pankrác and Olbrachtova. In addition to new escalators and elevators, transfer points to Line D will be built.

To help passengers during the closure, the tram line to the Arkády Pankrác shopping center has been extended. From there, tram line 19 will connect to Pražského povstání station. During peak hours, trams on this shortened route will run approximately every five minutes.

The Prague Transport Company recently completed the reconstruction of Jiřího z Poděbrad station, which was closed from September 2021 to November 2023. This project added two elevators and cost about half a billion crowns.

Future renovations are also planned for Flora station, where escalators and a barrier-free elevator will be installed. The estimated cost of this project is CZK 1.16 billion. Additionally, plans are underway to make the Strašnická, Vyšehrad, Rajská zahrada, and Pražského povstání stations accessible with barrier-free upgrades.
