Wasps’ Nests by Pavlína

Why I like this recipe:

“This is my favorite kind of Christmas sweet. No matter how difficult this might seem, the wasps´ nests are easy to make and even I (a very bad and inexperienced cook) encounter very few problems when making them. That is not part of the reason why I like this recipe so much though. It is the combination of tastes, especially the dough and the eggnog, that makes it the perfect Christmas experience. Enjoyyyy!”

Preparation Time
20 minutes

Cooking Time
none 🙂

Serves
2 – 8 persons, depending on how much you like it

Ingredients:
10 dkg butter
16 dkg icing sugar (cukr moučka)
2 spoonfuls of rum
1 packet of Piskoty (the Czech version of sponge biscuits)
2 spoonfuls of cocoa powder
2 spoonfuls of milk
eggnog

You’ll also need a tiny mold in the shape of a wasps’ nest 🙂 (formička na vosí hnízda in Czech – 20 CZK at any kitchen store)

Preparation method

Grate or grind 3/4 of the packet of Piskoty, and mix with the sugar, butter, cocoa and rum and milk. Roll the dough into small balls in the icing sugar and then put it in the wasps´ nest-shaped mold. Before taking it out of the mold, make a hole in the centre of the dough and fill it with the eggnog. Put a piskot lid on the bottom, so that the filling doesn´t leak out. It is best to leave them sit for a few hours before consuming them.

Dobrou chuť!
