Afterschool clubs in Prague offering enriching activities for kids and a break for their parents

In Baze
Starting January 20, In Baze, an organization devoted to integrating foreigners into Czech culture, launched its intercultural clubs for children from 5 to 18 years old. The group says its “aim is to create a safe space for your kids, where they can practise Czech without any pressure and make new friends.” Registration is required to participate though the clubs themselves are free. Classes take place at various locations around Prague see their website for further details.  

Two Hour School
A new educational program for English-speaking children in Prague, Two Hour School, is designed for children from international families who attend Czech schools. International primary school teachers lead classes in English literacy and learning twice a week. Because students have already spent a day in school, the lessons are focused on energising and fun experiences through which kids can learn while fully engaged. See more here.

Embera Center
Aside from offering Czech and English classes for littles, the newly opened Embera center (an “education and leisure-time center for children from 2 to 10 years of age”) also organizes Friday and Saturday events, such as pajama parties, cooking, birthday parties, theater, educational workshops, summer and winter camps and more. Container Club (Klub Kontejner)
This newly opened Karlin club for children and youth from 6 to 15 years is open Monday to Thursday at 1 pm to 6 pm. Kids and teens can use tutoring services, practice languages with a native speaker, join art workshops, play football or attend evening film clubs. Visits are not subject to applications or regular attendance. There is a garden and volleyball and basketball courts outdoors during the warmer months. All programs and events are free. Prague Youth Theatre Drama Gym
Opened just last year, this new addition to the PYT course-list is an energetic hour-long session led by trained drama teachers which involves a variety of fun drama games, improvisation, script work and movement activities in the PYT studio in at Art Centrum Botic. For those who can’t commit to the Saturday performance courses the Thursday courses are an ideal way to practice confidence-building, language skills, and boost activity levels for kids 7-12 years old.
