The votes have been tallied and for many the outcome is the worst imaginable, but above all most of us would just like to forget this election season ever happened. These events taking place now through the weekend should ease your pain (and if not we have just one word for you – beer):

Transport yourself to a Scandinavian utopia with the autumn edition of this annual Prague film festival. Eighteen contemporary films from Nordic countries will be screened with English subtitles at Kino Lucerna through November 16.

Billing itself as an international festival of cannabis and medicinal herbs, Cannafest 2016 (November 11-13) is also advertising a much less official sounding “rolling and chill out zone” where you can put the whole thing behind you with hip-hop DJs, two foosball tables, and some wacky tabacky.

Travel back in time to the flirty can-can days of 19th-century Paris with Prague’s first ever burlesque festival. The closing nights (Nov 12-13) will feature a series of international stars (Dirty Martini, Whisky Falls, Misty Lotus) battling it out for Bohemian Burlesque Queen.

On Saturday (Nov 12) an organization called Japanese Homemade Sweets (JADOCU) will be hosting a pop-up for Restaurant Day at the Prague Municipal Library at Mariánské náměstí. Induce a much-needed a sugar coma with chestnut, yuzu, or kaki treats.

A newly opened photo exhibit at DOX features some 300 previously unseen photos and documentary footage of the political leader and dissident poet. Showcasing important historic events and ordinary moments in the life of a leader who, though controversial, new little of mean Tweets. Runs through Februrary 13.
