#1 Prague Pride kicks off 2024 edition in Czech capital

Prague Pride, the biggest celebration of LGBTQ+ culture in Czechia and one of Prague's largest cultural events, kicks off on August 5 with events running through the weekend. This year's theme focuses on family in its various modern forms. Since 2011, the festival features numerous events, including lectures, workshops, and exhibitions, aiming to promote understanding and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community. A highlight is the Saturday parade from Wenceslas Square to Letná Plain.

#2 Czech glass takes center stage in Jablonec

The 13th edition of the Křehká Krása (Fragile Beauty) exhibition will take place from August 8 to 11 at the Eurocentrum in Jablonec nad Nisou. The event will feature 45 exhibitors showcasing glass, jewelry, and Christmas ornaments. René Roubíček's glass sculpture, which will serve as the mascot for the Czech Republic at EXPO 2025 in Osaka, will be publicly displayed for the very first time in Czechia. The exhibition celebrates the inclusion of traditional Czech glassmaking on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

#3 Take an English-language tour of this Mannerist exhibit

Organized by the National Gallery Prague in collaboration with the Louvre Museum, From Michelangelo to Callot: The Art of Mannerist Printmaking is currently running at Waldstein Riding School, and features over 200 prints, drawings, paintings, and decorative arts showcasing Mannerist elegance and innovation from Michelangelo, Parmigianino, Callot, and others. A special English-language tour of the exhibit will take place on Friday, August 9 from 4 p.m., led by curator Markéta Ježková. Tickets can be booked on GoOut.

#4 Gran Turismo World Series makes European debut in Prague

Esports stars from around the world will compete at the second round of the Gran Turismo World Series, which makes its European debut in Prague on August 10. This event marks the 2nd round of the 2024 World Series, following the season opener in Montreal on July 6. The top drivers from the Nations Cup and Manufacturers Cup in the EMEA region, who qualified through online rounds of Gran Turismo 7, will compete live at Divadlo Hybernia in Prague's city center.

#5 Catch the final of the 2024 Olympic Games

The 2024 Olympic Games run through Sunday, August 11, with the Czech Republic looking to add to its medal tally through the weekend. In Czechia, the largest fan zone to watch the games is located in Most, where a mini version of the Eiffel Tower has been erected. In Prague, the popular beer garden at Riegrovy Sady will televise Olympics action every day on its big screen, and Manifesto Market in Anděl will broadcast the closing ceremony. At home, most events can be streamed on Max.
