Average monthly wages in the Czech Republic crossed 30,000 crowns last year, but teachers in the country’s public schools are making even more.
The average salary for public school teachers in the Czech Republic reached 35,089 crowns in 2018, according to new data released yesterday by the Czech Ministry of Education.
The average teacher’s salary is up 11% over 2017 numbers, and a whopping 31% over the past five years.

By 2021, the Ministry has promised a 50% rise over 2017 salary levels for public school teachers, reaching an average of 46,000 crowns per month.
Teachers saw higher salaries at increased educational levels. Kindergarten teachers were the lowest paid at an average of just north of 30,000 crowns per month, while high school and trade school teachers topped 37,000 crowns.
Teachers were given the largest raises in salaries last year and in 2017, which came along with increases to the overall state education budget.
That trend will continue this year, as the Ministry of Education works with a 205.7 billion crown budget, about 30 billion crowns more than 2018. An estimated 13.5 billion crowns from that additional budget will go to teachers’ salaries.
The average salary across all employment sectors in the Czech Republic grew 8.1% in 2018, up to 31,885 crowns per month.
