Boston's David Pastrňák is the second Czech in history to score 60 goals in a season

Pastrňák is currently four shots behind top scorer Connor McDavid and two short of tying the Czech record set by Jaromír Jágr in 1995/96.

Boston's David Pastrňák scored his third hat trick of the year, leading the team to a 5-3 victory over Philadelphia and becoming the second Czech player in NHL history to score 60 goals in a season.

The win in the 63rd game of the current year broke the league record for the number of wins. "Records are amazing, but we are aiming for something bigger," Pastrňák said. "Our goal is to improve every day and prepare as best as possible for the playoffs. This is where the season is decided."

Pastrňák completed his 15th hat trick in the regular season when he hit between the legs of Philadelphia goalkeeper Felix Sandström. He is currently four shots behind top scorer Connor McDavid and two short of tying the Czech record set by Jaromír Jágr in 1995/96.

"When I was younger, Brad Marchand told me to always aim ten goals higher than I thought I could. I believed I was capable of scoring 50 goals, so I aimed for 60. But I honestly didn't think that I could surpass it," Pastrňák said.

The Bruins are one point short of tying Montreal in 1976/77 for the most points in a season.

Pastrňák became only the second player in Boston history to surpass the 60-goal mark, with Phil Esposito achieving it four times.

"Confidence, creativity and competitiveness. These are the main factors why David is where he is. When you combine them with how much he cares about the team and the whole club, you cannot be surprised that he is so successful," said Bruins coach Jim Montgomery.

Pastrňák also added an assist on Pavel Zacha's goal to his hat trick and improved his tally to 109 points. In the Czech goalkeeping duel between Lukáš Dostál and Pavel Francouz, Colorado defeated Anaheim 5-4 in overtime, with Francouz making 41 saves in his return to goal after two months.
