British University of the Year — in Prague

Prague, 22 October 2009 – Teesside University, Prague College’s main academic partner, has won the University of the Year and Best Employer Engagement Initiative at the university sector awards organized in the United Kingdom.

At a ceremony and celebration in London, Teesside University won in both categories for which it was nominated. The jury praised Teesside’s outstanding level of overall performance, and they especially mentioned the “particularly bold, imaginative and innovative initiatives” that have advanced the institution.

Graham Henderson, Vice-Chancellor of Teesside University says ‘It is hard to put into words, to be the top university of the year and also to have won the Outstanding Employer Engagement Initiative in the same year is really, really special. It is something that most universities could never aspire to achieve – we have achieved it and it´s absolutely fantastic.”

Douglas Hajek, Director of Prague College, says “This is great news for Teesside, for Prague College and for our students. The award comes at a perfect time as our first class of International Business Management Bachelors students graduate on 22 November.”

Prague College degrees are taught in cooperation with Teesside University. The degrees are awarded by Teesside University and students are registered under Edict 322 of the Czech Ministry of Education for social and other student benefits.

At Prague College you can study on Teesside programs including BA (Hons) International Business Management, BA (Hons) Graphic Design, and from next year, BA (Hons) Fine Art Experimental Media and MSc International Management.
