Warning:
Česká spořitelna Phishing Scam

Over the past two weeks, Česká spořitelna has been the target of a nasty phishing scam: inboxes are being flooded with messages purporting to be from the bank, notifying users that their account is on hold – all they need to do to rectify the situation is enter personal bank details into a fraudulent webpage that mimics one from ČS’s site. Anyone who submits their bank details will be giving them directly to the criminals responsible for the scam.

At 13:00 on Friday 7.3, a new batch of emails was sent out using a forged “info@expats.cz” address in the reply-to field. The emails are in fact originating from a france Wanadoo address smtp server.

Expats.cz has no connection with these scammers; the sender address was faked, and our e-mail address was abused while thousands of these phishing scams were sent out.

This is a scam. Česká spořitelna will never ask for your details in this manner. Beware the following e-mail, and any others like it.

Here’s the original e-mail, links removed:

“You are required to upgrade your Ceska Sporitelna Account by subscribing to our New Security Center.

Please click here in order to upgrade your Ceska Sporitelna account.

If you not perform the update now, your account will be placed on hold. On hold accounts can still send money, but they cannot withdraw or receive funds.”
